I want to share with you, the easiest way to creating a blog.
Just follow the steps below carefully:
Go to http://www.blogger.com
If you have a Gmail account, enter your Gmail address and password, then click the “Sign in” button on the page, you will be logged into the Blogger dashboard.
OR
If you do not have a Google account, click on the “Sign Up” button.
You will see a page where you will create a Google account which you will use for your blog and other Google services.
Fill the signup form accordingly
If you successfully Signing-up a new Google account, you will be logged into the Blogger dashboard.
Click on the “New Blog” button.
After clicking on
“New Blog”, it will take you to a page where you will, enter your
Title,Address,Choosing a Template,Create
Title,Address,Choosing a Template,Create
Title-This will be seen at the top of your blog and should be relevant
to what you plan to be
posting on the blog.
Template-choose any template
you like. It doesn’t really matter which
template you choose, you can always change it at a later date.
Once you have chosen
your template, then you can click on the “Create" button.
After you've click on
“Create” button, you should see a notification that your blog has
been
created successfully.
Your Blog is now created,
Click on “Start Posting.
After clicking “Start
Posting”, you will see the “Post Editor”
Enter the title of
your post (this is what your post will be about) and enter the content of
your post as seen in the picture above. You can edit whatever you type there at
anytime.
Take note of the “Preview” button, the “Publish” button and the “Save” button.
The “publish”
button publishes your post to the web.
The “Preview”
button enables you to preview what your blog post will look like once published.
The “Save Now”
button saves your composed post as draft.
Once you are through
writing your post, click on the “Publish” button.
HOW TO INSERT A LINK
To
enter links in your post, hi-light the text you want to use as a
link (e.g "naijaublog"), click "LINK"and enter the url you
wish to link the text to. If you click the "open this in a
new
window" box, the link will open in another window when anyone
clicks on
it
when reading your article.
HOW TO CHANGE THE SIZE,FONT AND COLOUR
You can change the
font size, font style, font colour and also underline your
text, make your text
bold or in italics by using the icons available on the top
middle
of your post editor.
HOW TO ADD IMAGE TO YOUR POST
To
add image, click on the image icon, there are different
options of adding image to your post. Click the "Choose Files"
button to select pictures from
your computer. Then, click "Add Selected".
Click on "Publish"
tab at the top of the post editor once you're done.
HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR POST
You can always change
the look of your blog anytime you want. You will have to understand how to use
the features of Blogger dashboard for you to be able to do this. To get started, click
on “Layout” on the left menu. Here, you can add,
remove, edit gadgets on your blog. More so, you can click
and drag to rearrange
gadgets. To change columns and widths, use the “Template
Designer” accessible if you click on “Template” on the left menu.
You should master the
parts of the Blogger template.
The “Header”
is the uppermost part of the blogger template. The blog title, description, logo,
Navigation links always go into this section of the template.
The “Sidebar”
is located by the side of the “Blog Posts”. Some blogs have only one sidebar while
some have more than one. A sidebar can be located either on the right hand side
or the left hand side.
The “Footer”
lies underneath the blog posts.
You can add series of
things to any part of the template wherever you see the “Add a gadget”
link.
The gadget you will need
mostly is the “HTML/Javascript” gadget. Whenever you copy any code
from any website, (eg affiliate code) you can always copy and paste in the gadget
and the result will be displayed right there on your blog.
HOW TO CREATE A NAVIGATION TAB
Blogger “Pages”
(is different from “Blog Posts”) lets you easily publish static information on
stand-alone pages. For example, you can create an About page that discusses the main aim or evolution of your blog, or a Contact page that provides information on how to reach you.
Once your page is
published, you can link to it from the Pages gadget. The Pages gadget lets you
add links to your pages as tabs at the top of your blog, or as
links in your blog's sidebar, also known as navigation tabs.
You can use the
"New Page" tab to create a new Blogger Page and a tab that
links
to any web address.
